According to a new report from Defensa Central, it has emerged that Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso allegedly had a direct conversation with club president Florentino Pérez following the team’s defeat to Liverpool.

The defeat at Anfield marked another frustrating chapter for The Whiteswho have now gone two consecutive seasons without achieving a positive result in England.

This time, a solitary goal from Alexis Mac Allister proved decisive and handed Real Madrid their first defeat of the competition.

Despite a promising first half in which Alonso’s men performed well, the team’s energy faded after the break.

Once Liverpool took the lead, Real Madrid struggled to regain control or create any real danger, leaving the manager disappointed with the lack of reaction.

In his post-match press conference, Alonso publicly downplayed the result, preferring to focus on the positives of his team’s overall performance.

However, behind the scenes, he offered a more open and thoughtful assessment of Florentino Pérez.

What did he say to Perez?

As the report explains, Perez did not travel to Liverpool and instead followed the match from Spain.

Even from afar, Pérez maintained close communication with the coaching staff and requested detailed insight into the team’s struggles after the defeat.

During their private conversation, Alonso reportedly assured the president that the team was still in development and improvements were already being made.

“We’re missing that spark away against the big teams… but we’ll have it,” Alonso reportedly told Perez during one of the president’s first calls with the team.

Pérez trusts Alonso

Pérez sought to understand every aspect of Real Madrid’s second-half collapse.

Alonso was blunt in his explanation, emphasizing that the team needs to improve not only tactically but also psychologically, especially when playing away from the Santiago Bernabéu.

The defeat is a reminder that while Alonso’s project has shown promise, consistency against top-level opposition remains a work in progress.

At Valdebebas, the coach and president appear aligned in their desire to make this defeat a learning experience rather than a setback.
