There’s Reportedly a New Job-Killing Humaniform Robot

I always argue that we will solve today’s problems with the technology of tomorrow, and part of this technology will be robotic, perhaps even motivated by a certain level of artificial intelligence (IA). But a large part of the “killers” industrial robots have, on my reflection, practical problems. Here is why:

Some large industries, such as the manufacture of cars, have been highly automated for many years, with a large part of the assembly made by robots. Watch:

What do you notice all over the robotics of this advanced factory?

They are not humaniform robots – Androids. But now there is another Humanforme robot, another Android, which is announced as the next human employment thief.

In all industries, companies feel the pressure of labor shortages, cost increase in costs and pressure to stimulate efficiency.

Robots quickly become real solutions and their promise has never felt more relevant. With the factories and warehouses that rush to fill the essential roles, the search for new ideas is warmed up.

This is where Aeon comes into play. By providing advanced robotics like Aeon on the factory floor, industries are not only likely to fill the gaps in the workforce, but also to rethink the way the work is done, increase the bar for productivity and safety at work.

Honestly, however, why the Android arrangement? Is the human form the most effective they might find? It seems that a lower profile mechanism would be more stable. There is an argument to be made so that the upper half is more or less Humanforme. It is half that would interact with what was previously a work entrusted to humans, and if the robot can literally intervene, without a major renovation of workstations, it would be an advantage. But the lower half? Four “legs” rather than two would lend a lot of stability, while maintaining an ability to go up and down the stairs designed for humans.

This new robot, of course, is combined with AI.

Aeon’s impressive capacities are powered by a robust technological battery. The Nvidia robotic platform offers artificial intelligence and the computer muscles necessary for real-time decision-making and continuous learning. Microsoft Azure provides a secure and scalable cloud infrastructure for AEON AI IA training and data management. Maxon’s advanced actuators give Aeon its agile and human movement, which allows it to tackle a wide range of tasks in various environments.

Now, manufacturers are shooting for versatility, rather than designing a robot that (like those illustrated in the Ford video) is designed and built for specific purposes, such as installing a rear view mirror on a car or a truck.

What I would like to know is the following: how will a robot react when something is wrong? Will his software have allowed him to detect when a specific mode of failure is trendy? It may be possible – I’m not a software guy. But as a former guy of quality management systems (QMS), I prefer not to see humans deal with something more complicated than collecting materials at the end of the line and transporting them to the next station, or a warehouse, or something that will not have and cannot affect the quality of the product.

Of course, the very real danger lies in the possibility that humans will help androids to break their programming.

Now, if someone builds a robot that will help me wreck out of moose out of the bush, then he will have my attention.
