Sen. Lee Completely Exposes Dems’ Argument on the Constitution and Voting – RedState

Some things are easy to understand, even for the little ones. Our elders teach us that cheating is wrong, period. Dishonesty is not acceptable. And when we become adults, at least when most people do, we understand that our republican system of government protects us by the grace of God through the unalienable rights set forth in the U.S. Constitution. Among these most valuable rights are the election protections afforded to American citizens. The last two words are important.
As readers may know, the U.S. Senate is debating the SAVE America Act on Saturday, intended to put in place common-sense safeguards for these rights. One area that Democrats repeatedly emphasize is the requirement for a government-issued photo ID to register and show up at the polls.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) took to the Senate floor Saturday night and laid out the hard truth about Democrats’ absurd argument that requiring a valid ID is a given. against the right to vote, protected by the Constitution.
[Note: At 2:08 in the video, the beginning portion of the clip repeats. There is an edit around :36, also.]
Voting is a right protected by the Constitution.
All the more reason to ensure that it is exercised ONLY by AMERICANS.
Those who say otherwise are simply cheating. It’s that simple. pic.twitter.com/Iqw6zqGxZm

“They [the Democrats] say, “Well, that’s [voting] a right protected by the Constitution. It’s true, it’s true! And it’s our job to make sure that’s protected. But the fact that this is in no way a constitutionally protected right means we need to make it easier to vote and screw the rest up. Let them cheat.”
“Their mantra seems to be: ‘Make it easy to vote and screw the rest, who cares.’ “, said Senator Lee. He added that it’s an obsession among Democrats; they don’t seem to care about anything else. But that poses problems: the risk of increased voter fraud, “something they claim doesn’t exist,” Lee noted, and that it’s a Republican “paranoid fantasy” they invented.
Lee said Democrats are “ignoring this when we allow [voter fraud] “, the American people are effectively disenfranchised “because their vote counts for less.” The votes of people “who might not be eligible to do so” in their district nullify them, he said.
He derided the idea of requiring ID as “disenfranchisement,” wondering if that could also be said about the process when people try to find a new job.
He forcefully hammered home the left’s flawed argument about constitutionally protected voting, declaring: “This is not a rational conclusion, unless of course your goal is to make it easier for non-citizens to vote fraudulently in our elections, to the detriment of real American citizens who are there to vote.” This is not a victimless crime! And shame on my colleagues for suggesting otherwise. »
He also reminded everyone that there’s always another reason why Democrats oppose something: “Orange Man Bad” is for it. This is an argument that will never make sense.
Senator Mike Lee has just won the Democrats’ game on the SAVE America Act.
“Most so-called blue states” REFUSE to share voter data with DHS because they know it would expose illegal aliens on active voter rolls.
Their excuse boils down to “ORANGE MAN BAD”.
“Their argument that ‘TRUMP BAD’ means no state should be forced to share their data, even when necessary to eliminate FRAUD in federal elections.”
“This argument is not good.”
The arguments available to our liberal friends to defend their views on this issue, as the late Ronald Reagan called them, are becoming more and more bizarre and indefensible. Have pity on the poor people of The Babylon Bee:

As crazy as Sen. Maizie Hirono (D-HI) sounds, this seems more like a stupid Yoga Berra-ism than a serious argument about how our elections are guaranteed for future generations.
My colleague from Townhall, Larry O’Connor, clarifies this here. There really is no stupider argument than the one that the leader of the Democrats in the Upper House, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-New York), chose to present on the Senate floor on Saturday:
“Almost no illegal immigrants vote.”@LarryOConnor Tears apart Schumer’s stupidest argument against the SAVE America Act yet.
