This Demario Douglas stat for Patriots-Raiders game is mind-boggling
Demario Douglas scored the only touchdown in the New England Patriots' 20-13 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
And yet, he still ended up with less receiving yards than Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.
Maye caught his own pass off a deflection by a Raiders defender and scrambled for two yards on the play. Meanwhile, the only other passing play to Douglas went backwards for negative receiving yards. By the end of the game, he had two receptions for -2 yards and a touchdown.
Perhaps the most concerning part is the fact that his stat line came on seven targets. So Maye was clearly trying to get him the ball.
Weird stat: DeMario Douglas caught a touchdown pass today but finished with fewer receiving yards than Drake Maye.

If anything, this statistic aligns perfectly with the unusual day overall for the Patriots' offense.
They had some bright spots in the contest, but they were too inconsistent to change the outcome. Douglas was viewed as arguably the team's best receiving target heading into the game, and outside of the touchdown reception, he was pretty much a non-factor against the Raiders.
