The former representative of Texas, Beto O’Rourke, pointed out how he “can only imagine the history books” which will be written on the inhabitants of 2025, and compared him to Germany in 1933 on Wednesday.

The Democrat appeared with Governor Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., On the Governor’s podcast “This is Gavin Newsom”, where he commented on the Attorney General of Texas, Ken Paxton, investigating his power by PAC people for having pretended the law by helping the travels of the Democrats of the State of Texas from the state to avoid a quorum at a standoff.

O’Rourke praised the efforts of the Democrats of Texas, describing them as a “final line of defense” of democracy.

On the other hand, he predicted the Republicans and, by extension, the Trump administration would remain in the memories similar to the rise of the Nazi party in Germany.

“I can only imagine the history books written in 100 years looking at the inhabitants of 2025,” said O’Rourke. “This is the path, you know, you and me when we were at school, we look at people in Germany in 1933. This guy was named Chancellor in January of the same year. In 53 days, he destroyed German democracy.”

He continued: “Parliament or Congress, their legislature, adopted these empowering laws, just as the Republicans do in the congress today who said whatever you want, you get out and do it. And it goes from this buffon and clowns that may not repair it, but it is sure that the master and the dictator.

O’Rourke frequently compared President Donald Trump and his administration to Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party. In 2019, O’Rourke attacked the policy of separation from Trump families on the border and accused him of calling all immigrants an “infestation”.

“Now, I could expect someone to describe another human being as an infestation in the third Reich. I did not expect in the United States of America,” said O’Rourke.

He defended his comments a few days later by saying: “Calling human beings an infestation is something that we could have expected to hear in Nazi Germany … describing immigrants – who have a record to commit violent crimes at a lower pace than that of Americans of indigenous origin – like rapists and criminals. Another country in terms of the planet does this kind of thing? “

In 2021, O’Rourke also warned that the United States could become Nazi Germany within 10 years despite the loss of the 2020 elections.
