Dems Plot to Make a Circus Out of the State of the Union Address, Because of Course They Do – RedState
For me, it was the most outrageous moment in modern American politics, and unsurprisingly, it came from the controversial and bitter “Speaker Emeritus,” Nancy Pelosi (CA-11). As Speaker of the House at the time – in February 2020 – the San Franciscan tore up her copy of Trump’s State of the Union address to the House of Representatives.

This was the same SOTU, mind you, where Trump honored an ailing legend, the late Rush Limbaugh, with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Of course, since they control neither the Oval Office, the Senate, nor the House of Representatives, Democrats now rely on obstruction, protests, and endless lamentations about the imagined existential threats posed by the president. Will they nevertheless remain elegant for a centuries-old tradition, the State of the Union address, scheduled for February 24?
Of course not, according to The Hill:
House Democrats are preparing a series of measures to broadcast their defiance of President Trump during his State of the Union address to Congress next week.
Trump’s speech marks a major flashpoint amid a Department of Homeland Security shutdown, with the White House and Democrats locked in an impasse over Immigration and Customs Enforcement reforms and Customs and Border Protection after immigration agents fatally shot two U.S. citizens in Minnesota.

Despite widespread mockery of their continued protests, they show no signs of slowing down:
“The only question for me is which of his disgusting phrases makes me get up and leave, because at some point I will,” Rep. Jared Huffman, Democrat of California, told Axios.
Rep. Shri Thanedar, Democrat of Michigan, told The Hill he was “considering” some form of protest, accusing Trump of what he called “massive corruption” and “despicable actions on Epstein Island.”
Other Democrats are taking a more calculated approach, inviting guests who are supposed to highlight their political grievances.
The reality they face: a president who gets results.

It’s not yet clear whether Rep. Al Green (TX-09) has any antics planned. In 2024, he ridiculously waved his cane at the president in the middle of his speech, and was escorted out and then censored. Democratic women, meanwhile, repeatedly wear clothes of the same color, as if behaving like sheep is a powerful form of protest.
Expect a carnival atmosphere later this month and bring the popcorn. Trump, however, will have the last laugh, because he will be the one taking the podium and not one of them.
