Four people, including two children, were found dead in a San Francisco home under “suspicious” circumstances, police said.

San Francisco Police Department officers were called Wednesday to conduct a welfare check at the residence, located along the 900 block of Monterey Blvd in the Westwood Highlands neighborhood. Arriving on the scene shortly after 1:20 p.m., they discovered “four unconscious individuals who were declared deceased on site,” police said in a press release.

Although few other details were provided, authorities described the deaths as “suspicious” and confirmed that “criminal action” had taken place. They also noted that this was likely an isolated incident and there does not appear to be any ongoing threat to the general public at this time.

None of the dead have been identified, but authorities tell ABC News 7 that two of them were children.

Belinda Hanart, who lives next to the house where the bodies were found, said she was “in shock” by the gruesome discovery.

“There was no sound, nothing, and I think that was the most disturbing part, we didn’t hear anything,” she told the news channel.

“Nothing. We knew it was a family of four with two daughters,” Hanart continued. “The oldest was probably between 12 and 13 years old and a dog, and it was a very normal family with a normal family routine.”

An investigation into this matter is underway.
