You probably already know that vocal assistants calmly record everything we tell them. However, Google’s Gemini application obtains a confidentiality adjustment that you will want to know – and this is not bad news.
For some time now, if you wanted Gemini to do anything beyond a basic cat, you had to activate “the activity of Gemini applications”. This parameter has essentially recorded all your guests and gemini responses, storing them on myactivity.google.com/product/gemini. Google would then use this data to, as they say, “improve, develop and personalize Google products and services”. It even meant that human criticism could take a look at your data. You had the possibility of deactivating this, but thus making limited Gemini capacities.
From July 7, Google changed this. You can use some of the basic features of Gemini Smart Assistant on your Android phone without your activity being saved. Previously, if you were concerned about confidentiality and the activity of the Gemini applications disabled, you could not use extensions such as the phone to make calls, messages to send SMS, WhatsApp or utilities to control the phone settings, define timer or read supports. These were locked behind the business economy wall.
Now, even with this trigger, you can access these four extensions. This is a fairly significant change, especially since Gemini is getting closer to the completely replacement of Google Assistant later this year. This means that you can ask Gemini to call contact, send an message or define an alarm without feeling like each interaction in progress for Google data.

RIP: Google Assistant will be fully replaced by Gemini later this year
The days of Google Assistant are numbered. Later in 2025, Google officially plans to replace the assistant with Gemini on Android phones. This occurs after the company spent last year publishing updates of features aimed at putting gemini equally with the much older Google assistant.
Of course, there is a small warning. Even with the deactivated setting, your conversations will be saved with your account up to 72 hours. Google explains that it is a question of “providing the service, maintaining its security and security and processing the comments you choose to provide”. So that does not really leave a trace, but your prompts will not appear in your long -term activity journal.
It should be noted that if you have already entered the profile menu of the Gemini application and you have deactivated these specific extensions (Gemini> Profile menu> Applications), they will remain deactivated. For those who have retained the use of Gemini’s more basic features due to confidentiality problems, this update is a welcome change.
