This Smart Mattress Wants to Fix Your Sleep in Real Time, and It Just Debuted at CES

CES has never been short on promise when it comes to sleep technology, and this year Stareep, a China-based sleep technology company, debuted some serious hardware. The company introduced what it calls the world’s first AI-powered SmartSleep ecosystem, a premium mattress and adjustable base that actively adapts to your body while you sleep.
“Sleep technology has only scratched the surface of what AI can do,” said Allen Cai, founder of Stareep. “We didn’t want to build another mattress that just reported data. We built a system that understands the body and actively responds to it, night after night.”
Most smart mattresses and sleep trackers on the market today provide information about your sleeping habits. They collect data and provide you with fancy graphs, but often leave you to “improve your sleep.” Stareep is betting that the future of sleep technology is not passive but involves real-time intervention.
The SmartSleep system has some innovative elements that I haven’t seen on the market yet, including AI-based adjustments while you sleep, self-adaptive optimization that evolves with use, and a multi-sensory sleep aid that combines motion, sound, and environmental cues. Stareep’s MatchFit 2.0 system also uses data from your body to recommend optimal mattress firmness and pillow height.
When asked about privacy and biometric data storage, the company says personal sleep data and biometric data will be stored in Stareep’s private cloud and will be accessible to users through the brand’s mobile app.
A Stareep representative told CNET that the company has a launch goal of early 2026. The company expects prices to range between $1,500 and $15,000, depending on configuration, putting it in the high-end segment of the smart mattress market.
