All the different power tool brands produce a ton of great tools, especially Ryobi, which makes a little bit of everything. Every once in a while, you’ll come across a strange, obscure item that you never knew you needed. That’s exactly what happened to me late last year at Home Depot, and this tool ended up solving one of my biggest workshop problems.

I’m not talking about your typical drill, an angled ratchet, or even a cool installation driver, but something that stands out in the store and makes you think, “what a wild product.”

The Ryobi TriPower Hybrid Tripod Light is Amazing

I bought it on sale, and now I wish I bought it sooner

I’ve already detailed some of the many obscure Ryobi tools, but the Hybrid TriPower Tripod Light Tower is by far one of my absolute favorite purchases. The name is long, but that’s because this thing has so many functions that Team Green apparently couldn’t come up with a concise name for it.

And honestly, this awesome hybrid and adjustable work light has so many features that I use it in more places than just my garage. This is ideal for any outdoor event, late night barbecues, camping, trips to the park and similar activities.

Wait, what is this thing? The Hybrid TriPower Tower Light is essentially a giant Ryobi tripod with foldable legs and can extend to over 7 feet tall. On the top, you will see a powerful 3,800 lumen light with adjustable panels. At the base, you can plug in an 18V ONE+ battery (or a 40V battery) to power your lighting, and it will also accept a regular 120V extension cord.

After using the TriPower light for almost a year, I absolutely love it. It’s a beast of a work light, producing 3,800 lumens that will easily give me enough light in my dark garage. I’ve used it countless times to change oil, replace brake pads, and do other late night tasks.

My garage lighting is my biggest complaint, and while I’ll eventually wire up a better lighting solution, this light tower was a game changer.

The light head is removable and has four adjustable panels, so you can direct the beam exactly where you need it rather than just flooding the entire garage. It also swivels 135 degrees, giving you great flexibility in where the light shines and how wide or deep the stream is. It’s pretty epic.

Ryobi’s Hybrid TriPower Light Tower will also spark neighborhood conversations. However, it’s the flexibility and versatility that made me want to share it with you.

Versatility you never knew you needed

Powered by battery or cable, the tower operates with more than just lights.

For $200, it’s definitely not the cheapest Ryobi lighting tool or solution I’ve ever seen. But it does just that, it does much more than function as a simple utility light.

What I like the most is that you can use an 18V ONE+ battery, a 40V battery from your lawn mower, or plug it into the wall. This is true versatility that most tools can’t offer. And honestly, given the high light output, you’ll probably want to use an extension cord. That said, a typical Ryobi 40V 4Ah battery provides over 25 hours of battery life. That’s enough to light up a campsite at night for a weekend. When it’s time to go, the legs fold away with the built-in handles, making transport to the truck much easier.

Ryobi 18V vs 40V: When do you really need extra power?

Larger jobs may require more juice.

Also, this weird tripod light situation isn’t just a light. It’s also a tripod for all your Ryobi tools. On top of the tripod is a Ryobi tool holder, so you can swap the light for a fan, Bluetooth speaker, or whatever else you want. It’s pretty nice, and I’ve used it a few times with my Ryobi BT speaker.

Then the best part of this whole tool is, naturally, the light. I really like the four adjustable panels and the bright LED lights. It’s not permanently attached to the tripod, so it functions as a portable light when you don’t need the rest of the base. Remove it, install a battery and bring the light indoors in case of a power outage.

And if you’re actually faced with an emergency power outage, the light has four modes, including a mode that only illuminates a single panel to preserve battery life. The folks at Ryobi and Home Depot really thought of everything on this wild accessory.

Don’t take my word for it. You’ll find videos and reviews on YouTube and all over the Ryobi website from users who love this thing.

This will be perfect for summer projects

Whether you’re gearing up for spring and summer projects or planning camping trips, this is a pretty neat little accessory that’s worth purchasing. It offers countless ways to use it, making it great value for money. If you’re lucky, you’ll get this tripod and a 3-battery combo for $219, like I did last summer.
