NASA Invites Media to View Artemis Moon Rocket, Spacecraft at Kennedy

The media are invited to see the Artemis II SLS (Space Launch System) rocket of NASA and the Orion spacecraft in mid-October before its crew test on the moon next year.

The event at the Kennedy Space Center in NASA in Florida will present material for the Lunar Artemis II mission, which will test the capacities necessary for the exploration of deep space. NASA and industry experts will be available for interviews.

Attendance is open to American citizens and international media. The media accreditation times are as follows:

  • International media without American citizenship must apply before 11:59 p.m. HA on Monday, September 22.
  • American media and American citizens representing international media organizations must apply before 11:59 p.m. HA on Monday, September 29.

The accredited media will receive a confirmation email during approval, as well as additional information on the specific date of the activities of mid-October when they are determined. Before the multimedia event, the Orion spacecraft will go from the installation of the launching abandonment system to the vehicle assembly building at NASA Kennedy, where it will be placed on the SLS rocket. The fully stacked rocket will then suffer complete integrated tests and final equipment fences before the launch of the rocket to launch the PAD 39B for the launch. During this effort, the technicians will carry out end -to -end communications funds, and the crew will practice the day of the launch procedures during their countdown test test.

Artemis II will send the astronauts of NASA Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and the astronaut of the Canada Space Agency) Jeremy Hansen in a trip of about 10 days on the moon and back. As part of a golden age of innovation and exploration, Artemis will open the way for new missions to the lunar surface in preparation towards the first equipped mission of Mars.
