Three people killed and eight wounded in Brooklyn lounge shooting, police say | New York

Three people were killed and eight others injured when several armed men opened fire inside a living room and a restaurant in Nookah in Brooklyn crowded on Sunday morning, according to the authorities.
The police responded to the information reporting a shooting inside the Taste of the City Lounge in Crown Heights just before 3:30 am, said the commissioner of the New York Police Department (NYPD), Jessica Tisch said.
The three people who were killed were all men and were all declared dead on the scene. Two were 27 and 35 years old, and it is not immediately known how old the third victim killed, police said.
Out of 11 victims, Tisch added, eight were men and three were women. Their known age varied from 27 to 61.
The eight injured victims – five men and three women – were taken to local hospitals with what the police said that injuries that are not putting their lives in danger.
“We have several shooters involved in this shooting,” said Tisch on Sunday. “We have recovered at least 36 shell sockets.”
The police had recovered a weapon near the shooting stage. But the investigators had immediately identified or detained any suspects.
Tisch made it a duty to say that New York had recorded “the smallest number of shooting incidents and the firing victims seven months of the year … on the file”.
Nevertheless, “it is a terrible thing that happened,” she said.
“It’s a terrible shot,” added Tisch. “There is no other way to describe it”.
Taste of the City Lounge, located less than half a minute from the Brooklyn historic museum, serves American plates and Caribbean with a complete bar, a hookah and DJs.
The company opened three years earlier and was the scene of another shooting in November 2024. This previous case was not deadly.
The typically Jewish and West Indian region where the shooting has occurred has undergone rapid gentrification in recent years.
In 2017, a bar advertising its “ball” wall caused indignation, the residents accusing the owner of insensitive stereotypes who neglected the realities of the violence of the gangs and its cost.
On Sunday, there had been more than 270 mass shots in the United States this year – or 1.18 per day, according to the non -supported archives of armed violence. The online resource defines a mass shooting like a shooting in which four or more victims are injured or killed.
The rates of such American United States shots caused calls from some in the country for more substantial firearms control. But the congress has not been largely incapable or does not want to take these calls into account.
