Pretti, 37, was captured on bystander video Jan. 13 amid a crowd of whistleblower bystanders, cursing immigration agents as an unmarked convoy invaded a street corner in south Minneapolis.
A spokesperson for his family and the family’s attorney verified that the man in the video was Pretti.
The video footage, captured by News Movement on January 13, was also broadcast by the BBC, reports Mediaite:
News Movement filmed the January 13 incident. He said in an X post that it “appears to be Alex Pretti interacting with federal immigration officials” and that he had the clip analyzed by the BBC, “whose facial recognition technology confirmed his identity with 97% accuracy.”
The BBC confirmed the authenticity of the video in its 10 p.m. GMT newscast. Journalist Ros Atkins said the man in the video “has the same coat, facial hair and gait as Alex Pretti and a facial recognition tool suggests a 97% match. We see him shouting profanities at the officers.” Furthermore, a BBC spokesperson confirmed to Mediaite that they had reviewed the images and verified that their team had used facial recognition technology on the video.
In a BBC video, Atkins referenced “new footage shared with the BBC by The News Movement” that “appears to show Alex Pretti and other protesters confronting federal agents in the days following Renee Good’s death.”
“It’s not clear what the officers were doing,” Atkins added. “This man has the same coat, facial hair and gait as Alex Pretti, and a facial recognition tool suggests a 97 percent match.”
Atkins added that the video appears to show Pretti “yelling” at officers, “making spit signs” and “kicking a car.”
“He fell to the ground and as he gets up we see a gun in his waistband,” Atkins added. “Shortly after, he was released. Eleven days later, the murder of Alex Pretti would go around the world.”
Bill Melugin of Fox News revealed in an article on X that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had confirmed to Fox News that “they are aware of this video and HSI is investigating it.”
As Breitbart News’ AWR Hawkins reported, over the weekend, DHS released a statement explaining that agents in Minneapolis “conducted a targeted operation” against a criminal illegal alien, when Pretti approached Border Patrol agents “with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun.”
