Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz joined the chorus of Democrats criticizing the Trump administration’s strikes on Iran, drawing brutal mockery on social media, including from those on the left.

Walz has been one of the most visible state leaders and critics of Trump over the past year, as Minnesota found itself embroiled in a Somalia-related child care fraud problem that metastasized to other sectors, while repeatedly condemning the Department of Homeland Security’s immigration enforcement efforts in his state.

As missiles rained down on Iranian targets and eliminated 86-year-old theocratic dictator Ali Hosseini Khamenei, Walz voiced his objection to X: “No new wars.”

That missive sparked a whirlwind of blowback, including countless memes targeting the controversial Democrat and 2024 vice presidential candidate.

Comedian Michael Rapaport, who has spoken out against New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani but is known for his anti-Trump comments, criticized Walz by retweeting a response to the governor from an Israeli diplomat.

“Iran started this war 47 years ago when it took Americans hostage. Honestly, can people open a book before publishing nonsense?” wrote Aviva Klompas, whose biography includes time spent at the Israeli mission to the United Nations.

Rapaport then took issue with criticism of the Iranian strikes and condemned those who remained silent as Khamenei oversaw the mass killings of tens of thousands of dissidents in recent months.

“I’m happy that this old bag of crap and his whole regime is gone,” he said of Khamenei. “Ding dong, this old sack of shit— is dead. 72 virgins have to deal with this bull— now; good luck ladies,” he added in a message Monday.

“Will this affect your Somali bribes?” asked Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., a leading pro-Israel voice in Congress.

“Didn’t you try to start a war with Trump a month ago?” another response from conservative videographer Cam Higby – who tweeted videos of his stringer visits during the unrest in Minneapolis.

“No kings,” another critic retorted, as the left clung to the idea that President Donald Trump is a monarch.

“Just be grateful that this is changing the headlines about Somali fraud in Minnesota,” said another.

Others criticized the alleged hypocrisy of Walz’s earlier meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his tweet at the time that “Minnesota stands with the people of Ukraine in their fight to defend freedom and democracy.”

On Monday evening, reports surfaced that Khamenei’s wife, Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, had succumbed to her injuries from the missile strike that killed her husband.
