Prep talk: Culver City freshman Aliza Rush aims to be top sprinter

Culver City is known for producing top 400 meter runners in recent years. Now there is a freshman sprinter, Aliza Rush, who could attract a lot of attention in the years to come.

Rush finished fourth in the Open Division 100 at the Arcadia Invitational on Friday, with a career-best time of 11.87 seconds.

“I always loved running,” Rush said of his elementary school years. “I’ve always loved running.”

When a coach suggested she might be a future 400m runner, her eyes suddenly welled up, sending the message: “Are you crazy?”

You should never say never for the school of 400 runners.
