Tyler Robinson arrested for Charlie Kirk assassination, more arrests urged

Robinson was arrested late Thursday evening in the small town of St. George, Utah.

Friday morning, during a press briefing, the governor of Utah, Spencer Cox, said that Robinson would have discussed the details of the crime with his roommate on the Discord application, sending messages on the storage and recovery of a rifle from a “fall point”.

Holloway told Fox News Digital that if a person was in contact with Robinson about the alleged crime and knew that he intended to commit crime, this person could be criminally responsible.

“But certainly, if they were aware of the object of the conspiracy, that is to say the murder, then any co-conspirator who takes any affirmative act in this direction, whether it is to provide him with the weapon, whether it says:` `You have that”, you know, as just giving words of encouragement, because during a plot, he said.

Friday morning, Cox said that no additional arrest was expected.

However, Holloway said that the authorities should also investigate the way Robinson obtained the weapon, which could also lead to accusations against another person.

Holloway noted that it is possible that Robinson could have asked someone else to buy a firearm for him too, a practice called “straw purchase”.

“If I go to a firearm store and buy a firearm, I fill the documents in my name, then I turn it over and I give it to you, it’s illegal because it is called a straw purchase. You cannot use a straw man to make a purchase of firearms. It is a very common federal crime.”

Cox said during the briefing that Robinson’s family was involved in his surrender.

“A member of the family of Tyler Robinson contacted a family friend who contacted the Sheriff’s Bureau of the County of Washington with information that Robinson had admitted to them or had suggested that he had committed the incident,” he said.

Robinson, 22, is said to have climbed the roof of the Losee center on the University of Utah Valley campus on Wednesday at noon, and shot Kirk in the neck once at around 200 meters, the killing. Kirk organizing the first event of his tour “America’s Comeback” at the time, and took questions from the participants when the alleged assassin ball struck and killed him.

He briefly attended Utah State University for a semester in 2021, but was in his third year at the Dixie Technical College which completed an electrical learning program, according to the Utah Board of Higher Education. He had received the highest scholarship from the Utah State, the resident presidential scholarship.

Family members told investigators that Robinson had “become more political in recent years”.

“The family member referred to a recent incident during which Robinson came to dine before September 10,” said Cox. “In this conversation, Robinson said that Charlie Kirk came to UVU. They explained why they did not love him and the views he had.”

The investigators also spoke with the roommate of Robinson.

“The investigators questioned this roommate who said that his roommate, referring to Robinson, made a joke on Discord,” said Cox. “The content of these messages included … a need to recover a rifle from a deposit point … messages related to the visually vision of the area where a rifle has been left … engraving bullets … and a message referring to having left the rifle wrapped in a towel.”
