For more than 100 stars of the secondary theater, this evening promises to be the greatest night of their young life.

The artists are in New York for the National High School Musical Theater Awards, better known as Jimmy Awards. Each year, the event brings nominees to Broadway to make a show – in just 10 days.

“It’s difficult,” explains Hayden Poe, nominated for his performance as hermès in Dalton (GA.) Production of the high school of Hadestown: edition for adolescents. “We work our voices and we work on our body, but kindness and love and friendship make us pass.”

The competition begins with around 150,000 school students across the country. After the regional competitions, some privileged people go to New York to perform in the prize show at the Minskoff Theater.

The first two prizes of the evening – best actor and best actress of a musical – bear the name of the legend of Broadway Jimmy Nederlander. Over the past 16 years, students have contributed to have the chance to bring their own Jimmy.
