Addressing the journalists of the Capitol, the president of the Chamber Mike Johnson and the head of the majority of the Senate John Thune held firm in their decision to stick to a continuous resolution, rather than negotiating with the Democrats on health care while the government is closed. Johnson said that the seven -weekly financing extension that adopted the room would provide a breathing room to negotiate with Democrats on long -term funding and their health care priorities.

“At one point, reason, common sense, common sense, must take effect here,” said Thune.

Johnson said that the president “took no pleasure” when the government closed, but admitted that he “dragged the Democrats” and “has fun with them in the meantime.

“Now do they have a lot of fun? No,” said Johnson about the Federal Government Funding and Potential Cups. “Does he drag the Democrats? Yes. I mean, yes. Because that’s what President Trump does, and people have fun with that. But in the end, the decisions are difficult.”

Johnson said that he had spoken “at length” with the management director and the director of the Russ budget Vought on Thursday, and Vought “does not take pleasure in federal workers who lose jobs.

“The president does not please it,” said Johnson about federal dismissals and imminent financing cuts. “But if Chuck Schumer will give Donald Trump the opportunity to determine the opportunities, he will exercise this opportunity, and that’s where we are.”

Johnson was asked how the president could both please the federal cuts and “have fun” with the closure situation.

“The effects are therefore very serious on real people, real Americans,” said Johnson. “We support federal employees who do an excellent job in all these different fields. But what they are trying to have fun, trying to shed light is to emphasize the absurdity of the position of the Democrats. And they use memes and all the tools of social media to do so. Some people find that it does not entertain you, but at the end of the day, the decisions are difficult.”
