It’s rare for the No. 1 team in the AP Top 25 poll to lose its spot atop the rankings even if it hasn’t lost, but it could happen for a second straight week entering the third week of the young season.

In fact, I am predict exactly that next Monday.

In today’s latest Tomorrow’s Top 25, in which I predict how AP voters will vote for the next release of the rankings, my projection is for Purdue to reclaim the top spot from Houston after a road win over top-10 Alabama this week. The shakeup would be the third change to No. 1 in as many ranking updates, including preseason, giving the preseason No. 1 Boilermakers a move up one spot.

Houston won’t fall far this week, just like Purdue didn’t fall far last week. My projection below of the full top 25 has the Cougars dropping to No. 2 and the trio of UConn, Duke and Arizona – in that order – rounding out the new top five.

Below is how I expect the AP Top 25 poll to fare on Monday.
