Tottenham sack manager Igor Tudor amid relegation worries

Tottenham have announced the sacking of Croatian coach Igor Tudor just 44 days after he was appointed to replace Thomas Frank on the Premier League side’s bench. Tudor, who previously coached Juventus, Olympique Marseille and Lazio, finished his time in the Premier League without a league win, five defeats, one draw and just one victory in all competitions.
Tottenham announced the coach’s departure on Sunday, a week after the club’s 3-0 defeat to fellow relegation contender Nottingham Forest.
“We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed that coach Igor Tudor leaves the club with immediate effect. Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci have also left their respective roles as goalkeeping coach and fitness trainer. We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts over the past six weeks, during which they have worked tirelessly,” the statement read.
Tottenham are currently out of the Champions League after losing to Atletico Madrid in the round of 16 and are just one point above the Premier League relegation zone with 30 points from 31 games: seven wins, nine draws and 15 defeats to date.
The English club has decided to part ways with Ange Postecoglou in the summer of 2025. Last season, Tottenham finished in 17th place in the Premier League, but at the same time managed to win the UEFA Europa League, beating Manchester United in the final, and despite the summer signings and change of management, things did not improve. Tottenham will now look for a new manager for the remaining weeks of the current season, with the imperative aim of avoiding relegation.
So what’s next?
Tottenham will now look for potential candidates for the job and, according to several reports, Italian manager Roberto De Zerbi has emerged as the ideal candidate for the board, but the former Olympique de Marseille coach has been reluctant to embark on a new Premier League adventure before the start of the new season, especially given the difficult situation he is expected to face at Tottenham. Spurs are also considering other options, such as former Burnley, Everton and Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche or German coach Adi Hutter.
