Transcript: Trump Allies Shiv Stephen Miller as Midterm Panic Grows
Some people inside dispute that: They say Miller is just passionate, not abusive. But you know what, Chris, I’m going to bank on the abuse. Miller and Trump wanted to deport a million people a year, but according to various estimates, they were clearly far from that number, reaching perhaps around 200,000 or 300,000 people. It’s clear that Miller isn’t happy about this. Chris, you are on the front lines of these evictions. What is your overall impression of how close he is to his targets?
Newman: Well, first, let me say that I’m with you. I tend to try to avoid all palace intrigue, because one of the things Trump did was turn our government into a reality TV show. That’s why I wish I didn’t have to pay attention to the latest rumors coming from the White House. But the way these madmen exercise their power has enormous material consequences. And I actually think we need to pay close attention to that. And I’m going to share with you, by the way, a lesson where I kind of learned that.
People may not remember this, but there is a publication called The Washington Examiner. Last year, they also reported some sort of palace intrigue story in which Stephen Miller was screaming at the top of his lungs, saying: eviction numbers were too low – why don’t we send people into Home Depots to go after day laborerswho are the people I represent and have represented for 20 years.
