Trump Admin Halts Visas For Nearly All Palestinian Passport Holders

The State Department stopped on almost all visa approvals for holders of Palestinian passports, the officials confirmed to the New York Times and other points of sale.
The suspension applies to almost all types of visas, including for students, business, family trips and medical reasons, reports the NYT, citing four anonymous American officials. The point of sale adds that the State Department confirmed that it ordered diplomats to enforce the new orientation restrictions sent on August 18 to all American embassies and consulates.
The State Department did not respond to the request for comments from the Daily Call News Foundation.
The restrictions do not apply to double citizens holding additional passports or anyone who has already obtained a visa, reported the NYT.

At the end of July, the State Department announced lighter restrictions on the Palestinians looking for non -immigrant visas. The ministry said that he would not accept the requests of Palestinian officials, accusing them of “taking measures to internationalize [the] Conflict with Israel “and” continue to support terrorism, including the incentive and glorification of violence “.
“It is in our national security interests to impose the consequences and to hold the PLO and the AP responsible not to comply with their commitments and to compromise the perspectives of peace,” the ministry wrote in a press release at the time.
The administration doubled this effort at the end of August to try to prevent Palestinian officials from attending the United Nations General Assembly.
The United States has increasingly repressed Palestinian activism since President Donald Trump began his second term in January. University campuses have seen waves of violent demonstrations since the War of Israel-Hamas began on October 7, 2023, which prompted the federal government to suspect foreign influence in demonstrations. Several pro-Palestinian demonstrators here on student visas are currently facing expulsion. (Linked: Trump’s plans to deport foreign radicals are temporarily arrested)
