Trump Admin Reportedly Forces Resignation Of Major University’s President

The president of the University of Virginia (UVA), James E. Ryan, would have decided to leave his role after pressure from the Ministry of Justice (DoJ).
Ryan would have declared Friday to the university’s board of directors which he would submit his resignation after the DoJ demanded that he withdraw to resolve an investigation into the illegal use of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) of UVA, according to the New York Times (NYT), citing three sources. The university has been the subject of an investigation since April after a federal complaint on civil rights allegedly alleged that the university had renamed its DEI framework rather than to dismantle it as required by law. Three informed people on the issue said that the Nyt Ryan had decided “with deep sadness” to immediately resign “given today’s circumstances and conversations”. In a letter to the board of directors, Ryan said he had already decided to resign by the end of the year, according to the point of sale, but the pressure from the Trump administration had increased the chronology.
“The United States Ministry of Justice has a zero tolerance policy with regard to illegal discrimination in the universities funded by the State,” said assistant prosecutor Harmeet Dhillon in a statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation. “We have clearly indicated that in many ways to the most eminent higher education establishments in the country, including the University of Virginia. When university leaders lack the commitment to end illegal discrimination in hiring, admissions and benefits of students – they exhibit establishments, they lead to a legal and financial risk. We welcome the changes in leadership in higher education which point out the institutional commitment to federal laws on the civil rights of our country. ”.
The Council of Visitors to UVA and UVA did not respond to the request for comments from the DCNF.

“Rather than complying with its legal obligations, UVA seems to have deliberately renamed its discriminatory infrastructure of I to escape responsibility,” claimed first legal America in a letter in May at the Doj. “Terms such as” inclusive excellence “,” advocacy and opportunities “,” community engagement “,” strategic well-being and opportunity “,” inclusion and belonging “and” diversity from the point of view “- already integrated into university schools, university departments, administrative strategy and official communications. To rename, Relabel and obscure the infrastructure of I, preserve its illegal substance while protecting it from legal control. »»
Lining on President Donald Trump’s objective to end the discriminatory practices of DEI, the Ministry of Education (ED) in February reminded schools that they are linked by civil rights laws and cannot make or hire decisions or exclusion programs based on breed. Non-compliance, ED warned, would gain reductions in school financing and a reference to the DOJ.
