Trump Administration Tightens Rules on Tax Credits for Wind and Solar Energy

The Treasury Department has announced stricter rules for solar and wind projects to qualify for federal tax grants, which are abolished over the next two years under the major bill of President Donald Trump.
The hill reports that the Trump administration has unveiled a new set of rules that will make more difficult for wind and solar projects to qualify for federal tax subsidies. Friday, the revisions, announced by the American Treasury Department, modify the long -standing definitions of what it means that a project is considered under construction.
Under new guidelines, developers of large -scale solar networks and wind farms will have to finish physical work rather than simply demonstrate that they have invested capital. This change is in response to an executive decree issued by President Trump last month, who ordered the Treasury Department to restrict eligibility for the tax credit unless a substantial part of an installation is built.
Since his entry into office in January, Trump has repeatedly sought to block the development of wind and solar energy, calling them unreliable, expensive and too dependent on Chinese supply chains. The Big Beautiful Bill Act, which Trump signed last month, obliges projects to start construction from next year of next year or to enter service by the end of 2027 to qualify for a tax credit of 30% and premiums which can push the subsidy even higher.
