Trump Bails on Negotiations, Tries to Blame Dems for Impending Gov’t Shutdown
President Donald Trump accepted and then – in less than a day – canceled a meeting on Thursday that he was going to have with the chief of the minority of the Senate Chuck Schumer (D -NY) and the chief of the Hakeem Jeffries House (D -NY) in order to discuss government funding before the deadline.
“After examining the details of non -serious and ridiculous requests made by the radical minority left the Democrats in exchange for their votes to keep our country flourishing open, I decided that no meeting with their Congress leaders could be productive,” wrote President Trump in a long social post.
The federal government will close from October 1 unless the Republicans of the Congress and the White House can at least obtain certain Democrats of the Senate aboard them on a continuous resolution (CR).
