Trump Calls For Fed Board Member To Resign Over Mortgage Fraud Allegations
President Donald Trump called on the Federal Council of the Federal Reserve Lisa Cook on Wednesday to resign in the midst of mortgage allegations.
“Cook must resign, now !!!” Trump wrote in an article on Truth Social. The president’s calls to Cook to resign come after Federal director of the Housing Financing Agency Bill Pulte said in a post on Wednesday X that he referred to the Ministry of Justice (DOJ) for allegations that she had committed mortgage fraud.
“Us Federal Housing FHFA, alleys into a criminal reference to the Ministry of Justice according to which the governor of the federal reserve, Lisa D. “We have sent a criminal reference to the Ministry of Justice with regard to allegations against Ms. Cook, and the DoJ should go everywhere the facts can lead them,” wrote Pulte.

“I learned from the media that the director of the FHFA, William Pulte, posted on social networks that he made a criminal reference on the basis of a mortgage request four years ago, before joining the Federal Reserve,” Cook said in a statement to the Daily Call News Foundation. “I have no intention of being intimidated to leave my post because of certain questions raised in a tweet. I intend to respond seriously on my financial history as a member of the Federal Reserve and therefore I collect precise information to answer all legitimate questions and provide the facts. ”
Former President Joe Biden appointed Cook to the Council of Governors in 2022. Cook was recommended to Biden by the Ohio Sherrod Brown Democratic Senator, who lost the re -election in 2024 and was presented to return to the Senate in the middle of 2026.
Trump’s Doj is the same way investigator California Democratic Senator Adam Schiff for alleged mortgage fraud.
The president has repeatedly castigated the president of the Federal Reserve Jerome Powell for having maintained high interest rates and called him to resign in recent months. Likewise, Pulte has repeatedly called for Powell’s resignation this year.
However, Powell would have said Close allies and partners that he intends to serve the rest of his mandate, which ends in May of next year.
A spokesperson for the Federal Reserve Board did not immediately comment on Trump’s call to Cook’s resignation.
