Iran confirms having agreed to a two-week ceasefire.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council claims to have agreed to a two-week ceasefire during the war. His statement indicated that he negotiate with the United States in Islamabad from Friday. “It is emphasized that this does not mean the end of the war,” the statement said. “Our hands remain on the trigger, and if the slightest mistake is made by the enemy, it will be fought with all its might.”

Today we are witnessing President Donald Trump’s announcement of a possible ceasefire agreement, in which Iran would be required to agree to allow ships to pass unimpeded through the Strait of Hormuz, and both sides would apparently abide by a two-week ceasefire.

The President writes (paragraph breaks added for clarity):
Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir of Pakistan, in which they requested me to suspend the dispatch of destructive force to Iran this evening, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the FULL, IMMEDIATE and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks.
This will be a two-sided CEASE-FIRE! The reason is that we have already achieved and exceeded all military objectives and we are very far from a final agreement regarding long-term PEACE with Iran and PEACE in the Middle East.
We have received a 10-point proposal from Iran and believe this is a viable basis on which to negotiate. Almost all past points of contention have been agreed upon between the United States and Iran, but a two-week period will allow the agreement to be finalized and brought to fruition. On behalf of the United States of America, as President and also representing countries in the Middle East, it is an honor to see this long-term problem on the verge of being resolved. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

That remains to be seen. Any deal with the mullahs and their cronies who currently rule Iran will not be worth the paper it is printed on. Everyone knows it. President Trump surely knows this. Iran’s power freaks are liars, as the West has known for 47 years. They simply cannot be trusted.
But Iran’s military capability has fallen back by a decade. Or does he have it? Any deal that leaves the mullahs in charge, any deal that allows Iran to remain under the heel (or sandal) of the Islamic Republic, is a loss. If such a deal involves lifting sanctions and allowing the mullahs to sell oil and gas on the global market, allowing them to make the best use of the fortune beneath their feet, we will see them buying more military hardware as fast as they can – more planes, more missiles, more rifles, more ammunition.
Yes, it is better to chew, chew than to wage war, war. But something has to come of it, something more than just blowing up Iran’s aging air force and turning its navy into very expensive aquarium decorations. The mullahs must go. Whatever deal is reached, free, fair and internationally monitored elections should follow; This is something the Trump administration and Israel should stick to like glue.
