Trump Disrespects Troops’ Families to Hype Himself Up
At the request of families, media access was reportedly restricted during the dignified transfer of six service members killed at Dover Air Force Base on Wednesday. But that didn’t stop the White House from turning the ceremony into Internet content.
The White House common several photographs on social media, touting Donald Trump’s presence at the debates with all the esteem that an American flag and a praying hands emoji can bring. “Their courage will never be forgotten”, we can read another messagewith a second American flag emoji.
On TikTok, the White House posted a slideshow of photographs with a piano rendition of “Amazing Grace” playing over the top. “The service and sacrifice of America’s six heroes will never be forgotten,” read the caption, which appears copied from ChatGPT.
The images included one of Trump greeting a travel suitcase draped in an American flag. The White House also posted a batch of 12 photographs on its website. Flickr story showing Trump alongside House Speaker Mike Johnson and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
The ceremony was held to honor six service members who served aboard a KC-135 refueling aircraft that crashed last week in Iraq, while supporting operations in Iran. The American death toll from Operation Epic Fury stands at 13 soldiers.
This is the second dignified transfer that Trump has participated in since his war in Iran began. But this is the third transfer ceremony of the war so far: Trump ignored the second after receiving immense backlash for resistant its own goods during the first procedure.
This time, he left his garish $55 gold-embroidered “USA” baseball cap at home. The White House has also previously used a photograph of a dignified transfer earlier this month to illustrate a fundraising email offering to sell “private national security briefings.”
The White House’s flagrant disregard of families’ plea for privacy demonstrates that it has learned nothing. Trump continues to use dignified transfers for his own political purposes. If not for publicity, then for propaganda.
