President Donald Trump is facing growing backlash from fellow Republicans following the Justice Department’s criminal investigation into Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. In a joint statement, all former Fed chairs, several Treasury secretaries and other top economic officials rebuked the Trump administration and warned that the investigation threatened the independence of the Fed and the U.S. economy.
