A federal advisory committee of vaccines made up of members selected by members by the Secretary of Health and Social Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recommended during a vote of 8-3 Thursday that the combined vaccine of measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox (MMRV) should not be given before the age of 4 years, citing known proofs that show a slightly increased risk Febrile separations in this age group.

Experts say that, although frightening febrile crises – which are rare after vaccination – are generally short -lived and harmless, and the abolition of the option for parents could lead to a drop in immunization rates against measles, mumps and rubella, some of the most dangerous childhood illnesses.

Known as an advisory committee on vaccination practices, or ACIP, the group provides recommendations to American centers for the control and prevention of diseases on the use of vaccines. These recommendations are generally adopted by the CDC and have an impact on the requirements of state vaccines for school, vaccine insurance coverage and access to pharmacy – something at least one member of the panel did not seem to know.

Thursday’s vote is part of a new change in vaccination policy during the direction by Kennedy, a long-standing anti-vaccine activist. In a short time as secretary of the HHS, Kennedy implemented restrictions on which can receive COVVI-19 vaccines and rejected the 17 members in place of the ACIP, replacing them with 12 new members, some of which were installed this week. Several of the new advisers have a history of criticizing vaccines or denunciation of public health measures taken during the COVVI-19 pandemic. Kennedy said that a “clean scanning” of the AIPI was necessary to strengthen public confidence in vaccine science.

On Thursday, committee members were invited to assess the opportunity to recommend against the MMRV combined vaccine before the age of 4, as well as delay the first dose of the hepatitis B vaccine until the child has at least a month.

Currently, parents have two options for vaccinating their children against measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox, also known as chickenpox. They can choose the combined shooting, known as MMRV, or two separate planes – one for MMR and another for chickenpox. About 85% of children get separate fire.

In the United States, the hepatitis B vaccine is given to the hospital shortly after birth, as the virus can be transmitted to children during childbirth. A serious liver infection, hepatitis B can cause cirrhosis and cancer. In the United States, each year, around 25,000 infants were born from women diagnosed with the hepatitis B virus. Without vaccination, up to 90% of them would develop chronic infections. The World Health Organization advises a universal birth dose of hepatitis B vaccine.

The discussion subjects at the meeting on Tuesday were not based on new data or evidence, and in fact, two members of the ACIP, Joseph Hibbeln and Cody Meissner, as well as several representatives of professional medical organizations who were present, wondered why these changes were being studied.

Robert Malone, one of the most controversial new members of the ACIP, proposed an explanation: “It is clear that a large population of the United States has important concerns about vaccine policy and vaccine mandates.” Malone is a former mRNA researcher who has gotten importance during the COVVI-19 pandemic by propagating lies on disease and vaccines; He abstained by the vote on Thursday because he was previously an expert witness in a trial on the mumps vaccine.
