Trump files 20 Supreme Court emergency applications in just 23 weeks

The Supreme Court ended its mandate last week, but the judges are not yet over, partly because of a legal Blitz Donald Trump, strategically deployed during his second mandate, which turned out to be surprisingly effective in advancing its radical program.
Lawyers of the Trump administration filed their 20th emergency request to the Supreme Court on Thursday in a period of 23 weeks.
The dizzying pace of applications comes as the administration seeks to advance some of Trump’s radical political actions. And, in many cases, the majority 6-3 of the court gave the administration the green light to proceed.

The High Court ruled in favor of Trump in the majority of emergency requests, allowing the administration to prohibit transgender soldiers in the army, the cessation of millions of dollars in the subsidies of the Department of Education and its dismissal of probationary employees through the federal government, among other actions.
Like most emergency orders, decisions are often not signed, which little indicates what judges could think.

Emergency requests – and responses from the Supreme Court – are not supposed to offer sustainable repair. But Trump managed to use a “fast moving and break-up” strategy to push key requests through the so-called Shadow document of the Court.
For the context, Trump has filed more emergency requests in five months than his predecessors for years. Former President Joe Biden only submitted 19 throughout his mandate, while Presidents Obama and George W. Bush only filed eight combined during their mandate.

In the meantime, the strategy allowed him to apply many of the school decrees he signed when taking office. These orders were welcomed with hundreds of prosecution across the country and blocked by many lower courts, which prompted the administration to appeal them, again and again, through the federal judicial power.

For the moment, these short -term victories have energized Trump’s allies, allowing them to advance an executive stock and claim the “victory”, as temporary. The approach allows Trump to advance major political priorities without counting on a slow congress.
