Trump Issues Memo Requiring Universities to Submit Data on Admissions

President Donald Trump signed a memorandum on Thursday aimed at arresting once for all admission policies based on breed by ordering colleges and universities that receive federal funds to provide large data on how they accept the candidates.
The memo reads as follows:
In 2023, the United States Supreme Court judged that the consideration of the race in the admissions of higher education violates the civil rights of the students. However, the lack of available admission data from universities – was supported with the creeping use of “diversity declarations” and other open and hidden racial proxies – continues to raise concerns about whether the breed is really used in admission decisions in practice.
“This memorandum obliges higher education establishments to subject the data necessary to verify that their admissions do not involve illegal discrimination. It will also give the public a more holistic vision of the factors that these institutions consider in admissions, ”he continues. “”US students, parents and taxpayers should trust that our country’s higher education institutions are recruiting and forming our next generations equity and integrity. »»
The memo specifically orders the Linda McMahon Education Secretary to reorganize and rationalize how universities data are collected and “develop the scope of the reports required for institutions admission data in order to provide adequate transparency”.
The memo also requests McMahon to “increase precision controls” for the data that institutions submit and take corrective measures if colleges and universities do not submit data in time or submit incomplete or inaccurate data.
After President Trump signed the memo, secretary McMahon announced that she had ordered the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) to collect the admission data for colleges and universities. The Ministry of Education said that higher education institutions will now have to report data “Disaggeration by race and sex concerning their pool of candidates, admitted the cohort and registered cohort in the first cycle and for programs of specific graduates and professionals. The data will include information on the school achievements of candidates and students admitted, such as the results of standardized tests and GPA.
“Following the revelations of the racial racial preference in the university admissions exposed by SFFA c. HarvardThe Trump administration now standardizes college and universities reports to provide total transparency in their admission practices. He should not take years of legal proceedings and millions of dollars in dispute fees, to obtain data from the institutions funded by taxpayers who identify if they discriminated in the American candidates who work hard, “said McMahon in a statement.
“In the future, universities will have to provide us with this data directly via an existing data system. We will not allow institutions to burn the dreams of students by assuming that their skin color matters more than their hard work and their achievements, ”she continued. “The Trump administration will guarantee that meritocracy and excellence again characterize American higher education.”
McMahon also ordered the NCEs to develop a “rigorous audit process” to guarantee the accuracy and consistency of the data collection process, the Ministry of Education said in a press release.
The NCES collects and publishes a wide range of data from American educational establishments and supervises The integrated post -secondary education data system (IPED). IPEDS collects admissions, registrations and financial information from colleges and universities that participate in financial assistance programs, according to the ministry.
The colleges and universities which receive federal funding sign an agreement with the Ministry of Education which forces them to complete all IPEDS surveys as a condition of participation in student assistance programs. The IPEDS surveys only required the racial rupture of students enrolled in the past. The new requirements will also require the racial failures of candidates and admitists.
“These new requirements will allow the American public to assess whether schools are going on the most qualified students in favor of others according to their race,” said the department.
