Trump Knows Which Person He Wants Running Against Thomas Massie

President Donald Trump announced Friday that he is supporting Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein to challenge Kentucky Republican Rep. Thomas Massie.
Trump has criticized Massie repeatedly in recent months, warning that he and his team would prioritize the Republican representative. In a lengthy Truth Social article, Trump called Massie a “third-rate congressman” and a “weak, pathetic RINO,” saying he should be “removed from office ASAP” before announcing his support for Gallrein.
“The incredible people of Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District have given us a mandate to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, and the person who will help us do it is Navy SEAL, Army Ranger and fifth-generation Kentucky farmer Captain Ed Gallrein, a true America First Patriot,” Trump wrote. “A courageous combat veteran, Ed knows the wisdom and courage it takes to defend our country, support our military/veterans, and ensure PEACE THROUGH FORCE. »
Although Gallrein has not officially announced his candidacy against Massie, Trump said he hoped Navy SEALs would enter the race, adding that if he did, he would have the president’s “complete and utter approval.” (RELATED: Republicans Who Oppose Trump Will Rarely Survive – Will Epstein’s Truthers?)
“I hope Ed runs against Massie, who is now polling at about 9 percent because the great people of Kentucky are wise to him. He only votes against the Republican Party, which makes life very easy for the radical left,” Trump added. “RUN, ED, RUN – MAGA!”

In a statement provided to the Daily Caller News Foundation, Massie told the outlet that Trump’s “consultants clearly pushed the panic button” in their choice of who should challenge him. The lawmaker also pointed the DCNF to a clip of Gallrein, who resides in Massie’s district, during a radio interview in July, saying he would be “honored and privileged to serve” if there was a specific race where he was needed.
“After being rejected by every elected official in the 4th District, Trump’s consultants clearly pushed the panic button by choosing failed candidate and establishment hack Ed Gallrein. Ed has been begging them to choose him for over three months now,” Massie told DCNF.
Massie publicly criticized the president’s strikes on Iran in June, calling the decision unconstitutional in a series of tweets. Just before that, he joined California Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna in introducing a resolution to prevent Trump from engaging in “unauthorized hostilities” with Iran.
In addition to opposing strikes on Iran, Massie also joined a discharge petition in September to advance the “Epstein Records Transparency Act,” joining three other Republican representatives and 213 Democrats in the effort.
In response, Trump blasted the lawmaker on Truth Social, with his political operation subsequently launching an effort to oust Massie from his seat, according to Axios. Despite their clashes, the Republican has managed to fend off his primary opponents over the past three election cycles.
