Trump Makes Big Announcement About New ‘Deal’ Between US Government and Intel – RedState

Friday evening, President Trump announced that the United States government had entered into an agreement with the Intel technological company, in which the company will sell 10% ownership of its activities. He took his Truth social account to share the news:
It is my great honor to point out that the United States of America has and now controls 10% of Intel, a large American company that has an even more incredible future. I negotiated this agreement with Lip-Bu Tan, the highly respected chief executive of the company. THE…

“It is my great honor to point out that the United States of America has and now controls 10% of Intel, a large American company that has an even more incredible future,” he wrote. “I negotiated this agreement with Lip-Bu Tan, the company’s highly respected executive chief.”
“The United States has not paid nothing for these actions, and actions are now estimated at around $ 11 billion,” added Trump. “It is a good deal for America and, also, a lot for Intel. Building semiconductors and cutting-edge chips, which Intel is doing, is fundamental for the future of our nation.”
As usual, the president closed with: “Make America again great! Thank you for your attention to this case.”
As we have written previously, the Trump administration called for the country’s dependence on the overseas suppliers for many products on which we depend, such as semiconductors-abandon it as “national security problem” than the president. Trump would work to repair:
.@SecottBessente: This is a national security problem, which we saw during COVID with our supply chains – and President Trump decided that we cannot be in danger like this, depending on foreign countries for our crucial drugs, for semiconductors, for shipping. pic.twitter.com/1xkwcv7qjd

Secretary Bessent said: (added imphasse)
It’s been years in the building. Years of manufacture. This unbearable system, our business partners have benefited from us, we can see that thanks to the important surpluses, we see that thanks to the important budget deficit, and also, it is a national security problem that we saw during COVVID. We have seen, during COVID, that optimal power chains are not resilient. And what I could say is that Covid’s only good result is that it was a beta test for what would happen if our supply chains were broken. And President Trump has … decided that we cannot be in danger like that for our crucial drugs, for semiconductorsfor shipping, and we will move forward The American people can know that they will have a safer future.

Here is what we know so far on how the agreement with Intel has been reached:
At a press conference, Trump said the agreement was released from negotiations last week with Lip-Bu Tan, Director General of Intel.
“I said,” I think it would be good to have the United States as a partner. He agreed and agreed to do so, “said Trump. “And I think it’s a lot for them.”
Intel said the United States would invest $ 8.9 billion in its actions, in addition to $ 2.2 billion that the government has paid the company under Chips and Science Act, a federal program signed in 2022 which has granted billions of subsidies to relaunch the American manufacture of semiconductors. The government will not take up a consulting room or have other governance rights at Intel.
…
The agreement with the Trump administration met quickly. Trump had called for the resignation of Mr. Tan in a social media position this month, citing the ownership of the executive in Chinese companies. A few days later, Mr. Tan met Mr. Trump in the White House and discussed giving the US government a participation of actions in the flea manufacturer.
Wednesday, Mr. Lunick and David Zinsner, the Intel finance chief, reached the framework of an agreement, according to two people with knowledge of the discussions. Later in the day, the Board of Directors of Intel blessed the agreement, said these people. Mr. Lunick and Mr. Tan settled on Thursday, said a person familiar with meetings.
Mr. Tan “entered to keep his job, and he ended up giving us $ 10 billion for the United States,” said Trump.
Tan said in a press release:
“We are grateful to the confidence that the president and the administration have placed in Intel, and we are impatient to work to advance the technology and the manufacture of the United States.”
Commerce secretary Howard Lux also passed the word, in a post X which included a photo with himself and the CEO of Intel:
Big news: the United States of America now holds 10% Intel, one of our major American technological companies.
This historic agreement strengthens American leadership in semiconductors, which will increase both our economy and will help secure the technological advantage of America.

In the post, Lutnick wrote: “Big News: The United States of America now holds 10% Intel, one of our major American technological companies.”
The Secretary of Commerce continued: “This historic agreement strengthens American leadership in semiconductors, which will increase our economy and will help secure America’s technological advantage.”
He also thanked the CEO of Intel Lip-Bu Tan “for having concluded an agreement just for Intel and just towards the American people”.
