Trump orders production of more Epstein material after pressure
US President Donald Trump says he ordered the Ministry of Justice to produce additional documents related to the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“Based on the ridiculous quantity of advertising given to Jeffrey Epstein, I asked the Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce all the relevant testimonies of the Grand Jury, subject to the approval of the court,” said Trump in an article on social networks.
It is not known if Trump authorizes the public release of these documents or when it could happen – although such an action would generally require the approval of a court.
Development comes after days of sustained pressure from some of Trump’s most loyal supporters demanding other disclosure in the Epstein case.
The Attorney General Pam Bondi posted a few minutes after the president: “We are ready to move the court tomorrow to unshine the transcriptions of the Grand Jury.”
A large jury is a group of citizens set up by a prosecutor to determine if there is enough evidence for charges to be deposited. In legal terms, it determines whether a probable cause exists that a crime has been committed.
The decisions of the Grand Jury must always be tested before a normal jury in court, so that a suspect is found guilty of a crime.
It is not clear if the post of president concerned the testimony of the great jury of the first business series concerning Epstein in the early 2000s or if it comes from the federal accusations brought in 2019. The BBC wondered at the White House.
Certain documents of the grand jury have already been published concerning the case in Florida in 2006 which led him to be accused of soliciting a prostitute. The case was strongly criticized on the lack of serious accusations and the gravity of the testimony given by the victims, which included several minors.
During the campaign last year, Trump promised to publish files relating to disgrace.
However, Bondi announced last week that the United States Ministry of Justice did not think that Epstein had a so -called list of customers who could involve high -level partners and that he had followed his life – despite conspiracies on his death.
He came after Bondi presented that she had to announce major revelations on the case, in particular “many names” and “many flight newspapers” – a nod to those who have traveled with finance or who visited his private islands where many of his alleged crimes would have taken place.
His overthrow caused a furious response from the tens of Trump’s most ardent supporters who called on to resign after failing to produce the list, which Trump officials previously said they had in their possession.
Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who criticized the processing of files in recent days, has welcomed Trump’s decision.
“It’s massive, it’s something we’ve been talking about for some time, and really a power for the base,” he said.
Epstein died in a New York prison cell in 2019 when he was waiting for the sex trafficking trial. Her death when she was incarcerated occurred more than a decade after her conviction for having asked the prostitution of a minor, for which he was recorded as a sexual offender.
