Donald Trump is no stranger to bizarre plots or strange publications on social networks. But, by all measure, his post on Saturday evening was particularly bizarre. The president published (and later removed) a clip on social social from a Fox News Segment with Lara Trump detailing the announcement by the White House of the first Medbed Hospital in the world and a national medbed cards system (two things that do not exist much). There was no additional context, no text to explain things. Confusing things more, the video seems to be completely generated by AI, in particular Trump himself discussing the program at the oval office. (Maybe one of the greatest gifts is the president’s ability to stay on the script.)

Medbeds, for those who tend to avoid the more Qanon-y of Internet corners, are an imaginary medical device that can do everything, to treat asthma, to repel missing members, to cure cancer. The fantasy of an all-in-one device that can heal all your ills has an obvious appeal, but the conviction that these are real products that are kept from the American public by Big Pharma have grown among the theorists of the conspiracy in recent years.

Many followers of the presidents admitted that the video was generated by AI, but always seemed to believe that Trump confirmed the existence of Medbeds. Whatever the goal of the post, we may never know. The president frequently sends things into ether and never explains. And now that the video has been deleted, the White House will probably try to claim that the entire incident.
