Unfortunately, Commanders defense was just what Michael Penix needed
What did Michael Penix Jr. needed when there were calls for him to be a bench?
Unfortunately, the defense of Washington commanders is exactly what Penix needed because Sunday in Atlanta, Penix was never better. Unfortunately, the defense of the commanders was exactly what the doctor ordered for Penix.
How bad was it for Penix last week? The Falcons dismissed the coach of the Ike Hilliard recipients and also determined that their attacking coordinator would be moved to the field with Penix, rather than staying in the press box above the stadium.
The Falcons offensive was so anemic the previous week that they could not produce a single point on the dashboard. Once half a finished, here is what my note read: "2nd and 5, 2nd and 1, 2nd and 1, 2nd and 1, 3rd and 2, 3rd & 3." No need to ask if you see the model. The Falcons ran or threw a short film at will in the first half.
The second half was not better. In fact, the day, the defense of the commanders allowed the Falcons to have score training of 45 yards (basket), 73 yards (touchdown), 63 yards (touched), 76 yards (touchdown), 72 yards (touched), 69 yards (goal on the ground).
