President Donald Trump said Wednesday that South African officials would not be invited to next year’s summit of major rich and developing countries in Miami, just days after this year’s meeting ended with virtually no U.S. presence.

“Under my leadership, South Africa will NOT receive an invitation to the 2026 G20, which will be held next year in the great city of Miami, Florida. South Africa has demonstrated to the world that it is not a country worthy of membership anywhere,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The Group of 20 includes 19 countries, plus the European Union and the African Union. This year’s summit was held in South Africa, without senior US officials present, following Trump’s baseless claims that it was a “white genocide” against Afrikaners, the white ethnic minority who ruled South Africa during apartheid.

Those claims were bolstered this year by tech mogul Elon Musk — originally from South Africa — who spent the early months of Trump’s second term serving as an adviser to the president and overseeing the Department of Government Effectiveness.

In May, Trump hosted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at the White House for what turned into a tense meeting in which Trump played a video on television screens in the Oval Office with a montage of clips that he said supported his claims of genocide. Ramaphosa and other South Africans have vigorously denied the genocide allegations.

The Trump administration welcomed white South Africans after Trump issued an executive order stating that the United States would assist in the resettlement of “Afrikaner refugees fleeing government-sponsored racial discrimination, including racist property confiscation.”

South African officials have also denied that their government is seizing land from Afrikaner farmers.

“This is not government policy,” Ramaphosa said in May.

Trump reiterated his claims in Wednesday’s Truth Social message.

“The United States did not participate in the G20 in South Africa because the South African government refuses to recognize or respond to the horrific human rights violations endured by Afrikaners and other descendants of Dutch, French and German settlers. To put it more bluntly, they are killing white people and randomly allowing their farms to be confiscated,” he wrote.

Next year’s G20 meeting will be held at Trump National Doral, a Florida resort owned by Trump’s family business.
