I’ve finally found an Apple Intelligence feature I can’t live without – and it might convince you to buy an iPhone 17

I have been using Apple Intelligence on my iPhone 16 Pro Max since its launch last year, but despite Apple’s tempting marketing, I have not found an AI tool that deserves to be used daily.
Apple would make you believe that iPhones fueled by Apple Intelligence have tools that completely revolutionize your daily tasks, but despite the test, I could not find a reason to use them.
It was up to iOS 26, and an improvement in an Apple Intelligence feature that completely transformed the way I use my device, my calendar and prioritize my planning.
Add to my calendar
We were all there, you receive an SMS or an email with information on the event that you should certainly not forget. However, when the time comes, you forget and miss an appointment.
Does that seem familiar? Otherwise, I may be the only one to have a 21st century dispersal branch. However, I doubt that this is the case, and I bet that someone who reads this choose to try to remember important information rather than taking a minute to put it in their calendar.
If that looks like you, visual intelligence in iOS 26 is the solution you expected, and frankly, I am obsessed with it.
You see, in iOS 26 on a compatible iPhone, visual intelligence appears whenever you take a screenshot and allows you to search for information related to it. Whether you are asking for Chatgpt for information like the previous version of the visual intelligence authorized with photos, or a new circle to search for the capacity that works similar to Google’s flagship Android functionality.
Although the circle to be sought in visual intelligence is neat, I found the possibility for Apple Intelligence to scan your screenshots and add information directly in your calendar an absolute game changer.
Imagine this, you have booked a restaurant via Safari and get a confirmation screen. Instead of manually enter this information, or open your email to find it, then add it, you can simply take a screenshot from the confirmation page, then press “Add to the calendar”. It is simple and incredibly effective.
Is that it?
It seems so simple, it is hardly worth writing an entire article, right? Well, this can only solve a problem for those of us who find it difficult to remember the dates and meetings, but think of the possibilities once Apple opens these capacities beyond simply adding to your calendar.
The use of visual intelligence to analyze my screenshots and extract important information could, in theory, allow awareness of the context of Apple’s intelligence on everything you have an image, and this is a very exciting perspective.
Whether it means adding more details to a calendar entrance, create a note or store information in a digital spirit like OnePlus’ Ai Deepmind, this initial upgrade to visual intelligence in iOS 26 is the first time that AI on iPhone is useful.
With the iPhone 17 at the corner of the street, many users will wonder if it is worth upgraded to a device compatible with Apple Intelligence. Although the possibility of scanning screenshots and adding that information on the calendar will not justify the cost of a brand new iPhone in itself, it could be useful enough to cause upgrade.
Once you have upgraded, however, you unlock the future of Apple Intelligence, and although Apple’s history on the issue have not been stellar, I think that this functionality shows that society has access to the tools of subtle AI which will eliminate friction in our lives in the future.
I just hope that on September 9, when Tim Cook unveils the next generation of Apple smartphones, there is even more at Apple Intelligence than what currently meets the eye.
