Google’s default Keyboard application can do much more than basic touching or scanning typing. You will not find them unless you go or come across them, but the GBOARD application is delivered with a lot of features that improve SMS and writing.

You can pin the articles from the clipboard

This one is quite simple. If there is a piece of text, you often copy sticking it. Let’s say, an address, a telephone number or a messaging model. It also works for images. Instead of manually copying the text or the image each time elsewhere, you can pin it inside Goard and stick it quickly anywhere.

To pin an element, you must first activate the clipboard (if it is not already activated). Press the tiny clipboard icon on the menu bar and switch the clipboard.

Now copy a piece of text or an image as you would usually, and press the clipboard icon again. It should appear as a chip in the recent section. Touch and hold this chip, then press the spindle to pin it in the clipboard permanently. The same way works for images. The pinned items appear under the pinned section.

Fun with emojis

The Emoji cuisine mixes and mixes emojis to create small funny mashups, delivered as reusable autocol. It is activated for default Gboard and only works in messaging applications. Here’s how you can play with:

Open a messaging application and insert some emojis in the text field. A button must appear on the Qwerty line with high and low arrow icons. Press it and you should see a bunch of mashups of the emojis you have inserted. The mashups are random and tap on one sending the emoji mixed directly as an autocol. You can press the sticker to add it to your favorites or a new sticker pack.

When you type a lot of emojis in a row, Gbord also shows a small magic wand icon on the top of the Qwerty line. Pressing this wand inserts a row of emojis chosen at random.

Activation of the Emoji line quick access in the Gboard settings.

If you regularly use emojis in your texts, plan to activate the quick access emoji line. Open the GB settings (by pressing the equipment icon or by pressing the GBOARD application icon) and access the EMOJIS, stickers and gifs tab. Then switch to the “quick Emoji access line”.

Pressing the Smiley icon next to the space bar opens the Emoji tray. We all know it, but did you know that you can also exploit this Smiley emoticon to access a lot of emoticons?

Allow emoticons with Gboard.

Right next to the emoticon set, there is also a bitmoji tab where you can directly access Bitmoji stickers. Do people still use Bitmoji? If you do, you will first need to install the Bitmoji app for it to work.

Shortcut extension with personal dictionaries

Text expansion shortcuts with personal dictionaries.

This feature is useful if you like to work with abbreviations. You can define your GBboard to develop the text when you automatically type a shortcut. For example, the “OMW” entry would extend to “on my way”. The widened text can be of any length so you can use it for models and others too.

To create a shortcut, go to GBORD settings> Dictionary> Personal dictionary> English. Then press the “+” icon, enter the shortcut and the text you want to develop. Now, every time you type this shortcut, you will see a quick suggestion to stick throughout the text.

Alternatives to Qwerty (includes the Morse code)

Adjustment of GBORD writing layout parameters.

If your phone comes with a stylus, why not use Gboard to type it with it? Access Settings> Languages> English (or whatever the language you use). Then press the handwriting layout to select it.

You can select multiple arrangements and switch to each other via the GBboard keyboard. Here you can also adjust the writing speed and the width of hand racing. As you write in the entry field with your finger or stylus, Gboard will automatically convert it into typed text.

Scroll down the arrangements to see all kinds of alternative keyboard styles, including Dvorak, Azerty, PC and my favorite Morse code (which allows you to type the Morse code and automatically converts it to English text).

Taping in the Morse code with Gboard.

Space bar gestures

When you change text, you don’t have to place the cursor to modify or delete it manually. The sliding on the left or right on the space bar will move the cursor to the left or right, a bit like using the arrow keys on a PC keyboard.

Plant deletion button on the space bar to quickly select and delete texts of text in one go. This will save you the boredom of maintaining the removal key to erase long pieces of text.

If your goard is bilingual, you can quickly switch between languages simply by sliding on the edges of the space bar.

Vocal typing is almost perfect

Barbaire of vocal entry tools in Gboard.

When you have to type a long text or if you write in Google Docs on your phone, for example, you can use Gboard vocal strike to cut your work in half. It is surprisingly precise, and you can even minimize the keyboard itself when the voice is watching long pieces of text without having to scroll.

You can trigger the vocal entry by pressing the tiny micro icon on the QWERTY line.

Hand mode, split mode and floating mode

If you hate typing on oversized screens as I do, you can switch Gboard in a hand in a hand where it shrinks half its usual size, which makes it easier to enter your thumb.

Using the mode with one hands of Gboard.

Press the grid icon on the left, then the manual icon and telephone on the right. In a hand mode, you can also change the position and orientation of the keyboard.

You can also change when the virtual keyboard is on the screen with the floating keyboard button. Press the grid icon, then activate the floors and reposition and resize the keyboard to your taste.

For larger screens, you can activate a divided keyboard tray, which divides the keyboard into the middle of the landscape. It gives you more space when you type with two inches.

You will also find other features such as these, when you get. For example, Gboard has an integrated Google Translate functionality, and you can search for stickers as you are looking for GIFs (including animated) in the Stickers tab.
