Cnet’s main dishes
- No robot vacuum cleaner has really resolved the cleaning challenge on several levels without obliging to move it physically between the floors.
- This Robo-Vac can do so, for the high-end price of $ 1,700.
- You will not find another emptiness of the robot with its features for less than $ 1,000 at the moment.
The advantage of having a vacuum of the robot is that you do not have to do the cleaning yourself. But this was never the case with me – partly because of what I call my “Ikea Challenge Challenge challenge”. I saw many Robo-Vacs staying stuck at the bottom of one of my chairs, which has an unusual form base. This is only one obstacle among many in my house, which is also filled with animal hair, leg prints and three teenage wires that leave things hanging out everywhere.
After the Dreame X50 robot vacuum cleaner was named the best of CNET for obstacles and pets, I could see how it occurred in real conditions at home.
Well, he conquered the Ikea chair. It was actually quite entertaining to look at the Dreame X50 managed, gathered and then used his auxiliary climbing arms to overcome the base of the chair, and it was only one of the tools of his Arsenal.

My experience with the Dreame X50 Ultra Robot vacuum
Regarding performance, the Dreame X50 Ultra was generally solid. He started with a complete deep cleaning, then sucked and cleaned during his second race. When configuring the application, I told him I had pets, so he emptied his heap of dust during the first round. I found that it was quite intelligent to lift his mops while sucking the carpet.
It took 123 minutes to finish his work around my house. The cleaning function was surprisingly effective, attacking muddy paw prints on my vinyl board floor as I could with a stick mop. And I was particularly impressed by its avoidance of object; He sailed around the shoes, cords and even my two dogs without problem.
The installation was a breeze: the application was intuitive and the quality of the construction of the machine was robust, although with as many mobile parts – like its auxiliary climbing arms and lowering the turret – I question its long -term sustainability.
Dreame X50 also did an excellent job to identify the cords and it knew how to avoid them.
A key feature that really stood out was the roller without tangle. In my home test, comparing the Drene X50 to my old Roborock Q5 after cleaning a large -scale carpet, the difference was striking. Roborock was clogged with the hair, while the dream roller was completely clean. This is a huge advantage over competitors, which often fight with animal hair. It’s another of my big tests – I call it my “Great Pyrenees Challenge” – and the Dreame X50 has passed with flying colors.
My family quickly got used to it to rush, and it has become almost like another member of the house – eccentric and sometimes a little confused but generally very useful. In the end, watching him overcome obstacles like the base of my Ikea chair, where other robots are stuck, was not only effective. It was actually fun to watch.

CNET purchase advice
The Drene X50 will take photos of your pets if you activate this parameter. You can click on the animal icon on the cleaning card to see the photos after a cleaning cycle.
The Drene X50 Ultra is rich in functionality, ideal for pets, obstacles and avoidance of objects. It is preferable that you want advanced navigation and cleaning and that you are ready to pay for a supplement for features such as climbing arms and the drop in the turret. However, this is not the best at the pure vacuum cleaner, especially on the carpets, and the software can be a bit eccentric. However, the good news is that DREAE makes technology more affordable, with the screening of filtering threshold to other models, including the new Aqua 10 series and the L40S Ultra series.
At its total price of around $ 1,700, the Dreame X50 Ultra is a very expensive robot vacuum. If you very much appreciate its unique features such as climbing capacity and advanced furniture navigation, this could be worth investment. However, if you are mainly concerned about the gross power of the vacuum cleaner or if you have a tighter budget, there are more profitable options. It is a luxury product and the value aligns with its premium features.
For better suction performance on the carpet and a lower price, the Ecovacs Deebot T30s or the Irobot Romberba J7 Plus combo have worked better on carpet hair and pet tests during CNET laboratory tests. While the three have vacuum and cleaning features, the Ecovacs Deebot T30s ($ 1,400 with a Bâton Vac included) or the Irobot Romberba J7 ($ 600) combo is cheaper than the Dreame X50 Ultra ($ 1699). It should be noted, however, that the Drene X50 Ultra is one of the rare robot vacuum cleaners that we have tested at CNET with the ability to climb on objects, overcome spaces and lower under the furniture.
This is live viewing mode in the application so that you can see what the robot sees in real time from its front camera. It is an interesting way to check your home when you are not at home.
