Ex-DNC Chair Says Dem Party Has Become ‘Doormat For Republicans’

The former president of the National Democratic Committee (DNC) Jaime Harrison NBC News in an interview published on Friday that Democrats are “Tired that the party be a doormat for the Republicans.”
Harrison also stressed in NBC News that the Democrats want party leaders to be ready to “fight”. His comments follow the recent reports that voters are looking for new leaders of new leaders in the Democratic Party following the brutal losses of the party during the 2024 electoral cycle, during which Harrison headed the DNC.
“People want someone who will fight,” the former DNC president told NBC News. “If there is a theme that I constantly receive, it is tired that the party is a doormat for the Republicans. Harrison also said at the point of sale that “IF You come here and your backbone is like a wet noodle or spaghetti, you might as well do not be even – except your plane ticket.
The former president of the DNC recently launched a podcast, “at our table with Jamie Harrison”, who featured the Democratic Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz during the first episode. The first episode of the podcast had only 655 views on Youtube on Friday morning. Some in the media had presented Harrison as the “The Democratic Joe Rogan” in the days preceding the launch of the podcast.
Former President Joe Biden appointed Harrison to be the president of the DNC in 2021.
Harrison did not try to re -elect as president of the DNC in 2025 after having presided over the 2024 electoral cycle where his party lost control of both the presidency and the Senate without resuming the Chamber.
Tyler Bailey, a lawyer for civil rights and member of the Columbia municipal council, told NBC News that he was looking for “someone who is not going to just come there and say that I am not for [President Donald] Asset. This cannot be an anti-Trump message. Bailey added that he thought there is “a hunger of people wanting to see a real leadership on the Democratic side”.
Some voters would have urged the Democrats of the Chamber to prepare for possible acts of violence and to “be willing to be shot” while the political agenda of President Donald Trump this year.
In addition, Michigan Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin said in an interview with the New York Times published Thursday that Democrats must look at their “alpha energy” and be more “daring”. In May, Rahm Emanuel, a former chief of staff of the White House of Obama and former mayor of Chicago, criticized the Democratic party to be “weak and awake”.
Towner Magill, a Democrat, told NBC News that he was looking for a “unit” in the Democratic Party.
“I’m looking for a unit, not just in the Democratic Party,” Magill said at the point of sale. “I think we have to manage a unit, but I also think that we may need a white house unit.”
