The American open broadcasters were invited not to show any negative reaction to Donald Trump in the male final on Sunday.

The president is expected to attend the match between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in New York, the security of Flushing Meadows being reinforced in preparation.

Trump was a regular Visitor of the US Open, but did not go to the tournament since 2015, a year before being elected president for the first time, when he was hooked by the spectators.

An email sent to the broadcasters by organizers reveals that the 79-year-old will be broadcast on the screen during the song of the national anthem before the match.

The message adds: “We ask all the broadcasters to refrain from showing any disturbance or reaction in response to the attendance of the president in any capacity.”

Trump’s visit threatens to withdraw a part of the spotlight from Alcaraz and Sinner, who meet in a third successive final of the Grand Colem.

Alcaraz, however, believes that it is good for tennis to have the president present, saying: “It is a privilege for tournaments to have the president of each country just to support the tournament, to support tennis and to support the match.

“For me, playing in front of him, I will try not to focus on this, and I will try not to think about it. I don’t want me to be nervous because of that, but I think, attending the tennis match, it’s great for tennis to bring the president to the final.”
