Trump warns Iran not to escalate attacks, saying US will strike back with force

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — US President Donald Trump on Sunday warned Iran not to escalate its attacks, writing online that America would retaliate “WITH FORCE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE!” »
Trump’s comments on Truth Social follow Iranian threats Sunday morning after he admitted to the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
“Iran just declared that it is going to strike very hard today, harder than it has ever done before,” Trump wrote. “They better not do that, though, because if they do, we will hit them with a force that has never been seen before!”
THIS IS A LATEST UPDATE. AP’s earlier story follows below.
Iran’s parliament speaker on Sunday called the leaders of the United States and Israel “dirty criminals” who will suffer “devastating blows” for their ongoing attacks on the Islamic Republic.
Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf made the comments in a televised speech.
Qalibaf is the most senior official to appear on camera since the attacks began on Saturday.
“You have crossed our red line and you must pay the price,” he said. “We will deal blows so devastating that you yourselves will be driven to beg. »
