Trump’s Epstein Explanation Makes No Sense
The president still has no clear explanation for his own recent claims on his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
Speaking Thursday with journalists in the White House, Trump reiterated that he had thrown the sexual trafficker of Mar-A-Lago children after learning that Epstein was treating employees of minors, but failed to understand why Epstein had, in the words of Trump, “stolen” young girls.
“At the time, did you know why he took these young women?” asked a journalist in the room.
“No, I didn’t know,” said Trump. “But no, I don’t really know why, but I said that if he had taken someone from Mar-A-Lago, he hires or anything, I didn’t like it. We threw it, we said we didn’t want it.”
“I didn’t like it, that he was doing this,” added Trump.
Trump’s comments barely tackle his trip in the Air Force one earlier this week, when he admitted That he knew Virginia Giuffre – one of the most eminent accusers of Epstein – was one of the “stolen” girls. His remarks on Tuesday partially corroborated the story of Giuffre after being removed in 2000 by the long-standing partner of Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, in Mar-A-Lago, where Giuffre worked at the time as an attendant at the swimming pool.
Trump and his allies alluded to multiple The victims of Epstein having entered the orbit of the alleged sexual trafficker in Mar-A-Lago, but name only one: Giuffre. She met Epstein in Mar-A-Lago in 2000-and Trump’s close friendship with Epstein continued for years after. If Trump was really furious, as he now claims, he certainly did not show it. Indeed, their friendship did not get through before 2004, when the two found that we concluded the same House of Brightness of Palm Beach-and Epstein remained a member of Mar-A-Lago until 2007, only expelled after a journalist called for his status following a conviction for the sexual crimes of Florida.
