Five soldiers were injured in Fort Stewart, Georgia, yesterday after an army sergeant opened fire on his colleagues. The alleged shooter was identified as the SGT. Quornelius Radford, who worked in automated logistics. Several soldiers who witnessed the shooting were able to attack Radford and master it. Victims of shooting are in a stable state and Radford is in detention.

- π§ The police speak to Radford to try to discover the motif behind the shootingEmily Jones of the NPR Wabe network station tells First. Radford has been stationed in Fort Stewart since 2022, and the weapon used was his own handgun, according to army officials. The authorities examine how he was able to put his own weapon on the military base. Brigadier, General John Lubas, at a press conference yesterday, reassured the people that the base was safe and well kept.
President Trump’s higher import taxes on several countries are coming into force today. In the past four months, the United States has billed a 10% tax on most of what we import. Now, the goods from Europe, Japan and South Korea will be faced with a 15%tax. Countries like the Philippines, Switzerland and South Africa will be affected by even higher tax rates. Canada already feels the effects of higher rates, as taxes on their goods increased to 35% last week.
- π§ McDonald’s is one of the companies feeling the impacts of prices. The leaders said this week that they were affected Because many of their customers are sensitive to prices, explains Scott Outley out of NPR. The CEO of the company, Chris Kempczinski, says that customers on a industry level do not spend as freely as they were a year ago, probably due to anxiety around prices. Kempczinsky explains that many customers are negotiated in their menu or completely jump the reader. McDonald’s is not alone. In the entire economy, there is evidence that import taxes increase prices and slow growth.
Trump says there is a “very good prospect” that he will meet Russian president Vladimir Putin and the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy Soon in an effort to end the war between their two countries. This development comes after what Trump described as very productive discussions between the special envoy, Steve Witkoff and Putin yesterday. According to Russia’s statements, a meeting between Trump and Putin could take place next week.
- π§ It is not clear if Putin offered concessions to obtain this meetingsaid Franco OrdoΓ±ez of NPR. Putin has long wanted to be able to speak with the president face to face. Reunion would be a big problem because it would be the first between Putin and American president since 2021, when former president Joe Biden was in office. The Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, said in an interview with Fox Business that the White House is now experiencing concrete examples of things that Russia would ask to end the war. Rubio said Russia and Ukraine should make concessions, and a cease-fire would be a key step.

AI tools are becoming more and more popular with students who need help for their homework, and AI knows. Last week, Openai launched “Study mode”, which is intended to act as a tutor, in his chatbot. But is AI comparable to old-fashioned tools like manuals and online aids like quizlet and chegg? Ayana Archie de NPR spoke with platforms and students who used them to see how they acclimated to new resources.
- π Chegg, a site that sells manuals and offers digital services such as the generation of flash cards, incorporates AI models. This includes a new feature that displays panels side by side with answers to a question alongside platform responses such as Chatgpt and Claude.
- π Many students combine traditional methods with AI tools. But around 50% of students estimate that excessive dependence on AI could affect their academic performance, according to research from Digital Education Council in 2024.
- π Some teachers affect more work which must be handwritten or completed in class to try to prevent plagiarism and the overuse of AI.

Republican representative Mike Flood of Nebraska organized a meeting of the city on Monday, where he felt the warmth of his voters for his support for “One Big Beautiful Bill” by Trump. The event collected more than 700 participants who shared their concerns that the legislation would have an impact on social security net programs like Medicaid. The crowd also questioned the approach of the president of the application of immigration. Throughout the meeting, the floods were heckled while trying to defend the president’s tax and expenses.
