Tsunami warnings fading after one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded. Here's what to know

One of the most powerful earthquakes ever recorded has sent a tsunami crashed in a Russian port and smaller waves that cross the Pacific to the Americas and in the South in New Zealand. The danger was largely spent more than a day after the 8.8 magnitude earthquake, which was centered off the coast of the Kamchatka peninsula in the Far East in Russia. No major damage has been reported and tsunami warnings have been canceled in most regions. But Chile increased its warning to the highest level early Wednesday for most of its long Pacific coast and began to evacuate hundreds of people.
