Two suspects arrested after smuggling 80,000 cigarettes disguised as tissues
The two suspects, aged 31 and 32, would have introduced the smuggling of Dubai cigarettes, avoiding taxes estimated at around 20 million NIS.
The Israeli police and the Israeli tax administration have opened an investigation into two people suspected of passing some 80,000 cigarette packs, which were disguised as fabrics in Israel, the Israeli police said on Wednesday.
The two suspects, aged 31 and 32, would have introduced the smuggling of Dubai cigarettes, avoiding taxes estimated at around 20 million NIS.
The men were apprehended following an prolonged infiltrated investigation carried out by the customs unit of Ashdod and the Israeli police.

Suspects released under restrictive conditions
The suspects have an import company and the police were able to intercept the containers after their arrival at Ashdod Port.
A raid was made on the spot and the suspects were arrested, the police added.
The two were brought before the Ashkelon court of first instance before being released under restrictive conditions.
