Typhoon Danas crosses Taiwan, killing 2 and injuring more than 300

Taipiei, Taiwan – Typhoon Danas brought violent winds on Monday and torrential rains in some parts of Taiwan, killing two people and injuring more than 300 on the west coast densely populated on the island.
The typhoon lost the intensity and was downgraded to a tropical storm as it moved to the Taiwan Strait on a forecast path to China.
Danas has eliminated power for more than 580,000 households, and schools and offices were closed in the southern and central parts of Taiwan.
The typhoon touched earth on the west coast late Sunday Sunday, with maximum sustained winds of 89 MPH. He threw more than 24 inches of rain in places, causing landslides and floods.
Two deaths were reported in the city in the southwest of Tainan, according to the National Fire Agency. One person died when their vehicle was struck by a falling tree, while another died after their respirator worked badly due to the loss of power.

At least 334 people suffered injuries, while more than 3,400 people were forced to evacuate – mainly mountainous areas around the southern port city of Kaohsiung.
Thousands of tourists were blocked on the peripheral islands of Taiwan in Penghu, Matsu and Green due to the cancellations of ferry services and flights.
The southern and eastern regions of China made preparations before the storm, which should reach the continent on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities in the southern Guangdong province called hundreds of ships to wear and have evacuated more than 2,000 people from offshore facilities. Two cities in the Eastern Province of Zhejiang have suspended the ferry services and construction work.
Danas previously intensified the seasonal rains of the monsoon in the mountains of the North of the Philippines, flooding the low villages and forcing more than 3,000 people to flee to emergency shelters.
Taiwan regularly sees tropical storms between July and October, but they are more common on his eastern coast that is not populated against the Pacific.
