Trump Administration Is About ‘Making Your Lives More Miserable’

On MSNBC’s “The Weeknight” Thursday, Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) said the Trump administration aims to “make your life more miserable.”

Host Michael Steele said: “On a larger scale, about the growing level of resistance to what we’re about to see this weekend and what that means and, more importantly, how Republicans are reacting to it. Talk a little bit about what you think the American people are finally starting to signal to this administration. Yes, you had the no vote, the No Kings rallies a few years ago month, but this one seems different. This one seems to settle differently with the American people. What do you remember about South Carolina? How do Republicans, even in your state, view this administration and what can these protests really say?

Clyburn said, “I think people are starting to see exactly what’s going on here. You know, it’s one thing for people to express alternatives, even alternative facts, but it’s another thing when you start presenting an autocracy, you start and people start to see that this administration is not about fairness. That’s what they fear. They’re afraid, fairness. They’re afraid of freedom.”

He added: “They fear that the facts, and the facts are starting to sink in to the American people, that this is just about making your life more miserable.” »
